International Smoke, the wildly popular collaboration between Chef Michael Mina and lifestyle expert and bestselling cookbook author Ayesha Curry, opened on November 13, 2017 at 301 Mission Street. Inspired by Curry’s and Mina’s individual heritages and travels, International Smoke explores global approaches to fire, grilling, and smoke to create flavorful dishes that bring communities together all around the world. Food is at the heart of community, and this restaurant truly celebrates this.
Curry and Mina have created a menu that highlights an array of quality spices, products, and cooking techniques from around the globe. International Smoke will take guests on a journey to distant places with elevated takes on classic dishes such as: Jerk spice-seasoned Double Duck Wings, sticky mango, and revered Jamaican condiment known as green seasoning. Lemongrass Pork Chop, thinly sliced and charred on the grill, is served with stir fried clams, glass noodles, soy and lime. Binchōtan-Grilled Lobster with Japanese curry-spiced yakiudon. Punjabi-spiced Fish Fry with turmeric pickles, and raïta. The menu also features a section called “Three Little Pigs,” offering three different inspired preparations and flavors of pork such as St. Louis Spareribs, Cuban “Mojo” Ribs, and Japanese Miso Ribs.
The beverage program will consist of fresh, seasonal cocktails using local ingredients inspired by countries around the world. The bar at International Smoke will continue the idea of a communal dining experience through large format cocktails, featuring international beers as well as fantastic local brews on draft.
The visual experience of International Smoke, designed by Los Angeles-based firm Bishop Pass, creates a warm, welcoming, and intimate environment. The 80 person dining room features a number of booths to create intimate tables for guests to gather around. The dining room lends itself to a number of tableside service elements which also emphasize the communal nature of the menu. A candle display on the eastern wall anchors the dining room and is balanced by the bar in the center of the restaurant, which is flanked by two copper plated columns that give the room additional warmth and evoke the look and feel of a fireplace and grill.
The center bar seats up to twenty guests. Rounded, green leather bar stools act as the perfect aesthetic transition from the dining room to the bar area. The bar area brings the outdoors in, with greenery and potted plants that create an atmosphere of an enclosed patio or small parklet.

International Smoke San Francisco offers group dining for up to 48 guests. Our lounge and atrium can host receptions for up to 200 guests. The restaurant is also available to reserve in its entirety for up to 250 guests.
